English Premier League

The English Premier League can be described as one of the most unexpected leagues in regard to the winner as 6 different teams managed to win the trophy since its constitution in 1992. These are Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.

However, the current season cannot be described as a competitive one in regards to the winner. Despite that last season, the winner was decided on the last matchday where Manchester City finally won the league by one point difference to Liverpool, this season the ‘Reds’ have been leading the table since Matchday 1 and no other team can compete with them.

Eleven games before the end, Liverpool are still unbeaten (26 wins and 1 draw), at the top of the table, 22 points away from second-place Manchester City. After 30 years –the last time Liverpool won the league was in 1989-90- it seems almost impossible for Liverpool to miss winning the Premier League title.

This would be the 19th time Liverpool will be champions of England with Manchester United being the club that won league 20 times, more than any other English team.

Both Jamie Vardy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang share the number one spot in the top goal scorers list with 17 goals.

French Ligue 1

Paris St Germain are currently at the top of the French Ligue 1 with 65 points, a 13 point gap from Marseille. With 12 games remaining, Paris St Germain are the favorites to win the league for the third consecutive season and seventh during the past 8 seasons. Since 2012-13 is the only season in which another club managed to win the league when Monaco achieved that in 2016-17 under Leonardo Jardim.

That team of Monaco with players such as Mbappe, Fabihno, Bernardo Silva, Joao Moutihno and Benjamin Mendy in their squad also reached the Champions League semi-finals after eliminating Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

Without such an exceptional competitor all odds are in favor of Paris St Germain to win the league this season and also compete for the dream of the club during the last years, winning the Champions League.

Both Wissam Ben Yedder and Kylian Mbappe are currently at the top spot in the goal scorer list with 16 goals.

Spanish La Liga

25 out of the 38 match days have been completed in the Spanish La Liga and two points separate Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barcelona lead the table with 55 points with Real Madrid in second place with 53 points.

Taking into consideration that the two teams will face each other on Sunday, 1st of March, at an exciting El Classico which will take place at Santiago Bernabeu, no safe predictions in regard to the outcome of the league winner can be made.

Barcelona will aim to win La Liga for the third consecutive season and fifth during the last 6 years.

On the contrary, Real Madrid want to win their 34th league title (Barcelona have 26) and first since the 2016-17 season.

It seems almost impossible for Atletico Madrid to compete for the title this season as they are 12 points away from the top. Diego Simeone’s team last won the league in the 2013-14 season after they managed to break the Real Madrid-Barcelona dominance.

Atletico Madrid with 10 La Liga titles are third on the table of Spanish teams to win the league.

Lionel Messi is running La Liga’s top goal scorers list with 18 goals.

Italian Seria A

One of the most exciting Italian Seria A title races is taking place this season. Since the 2011-12 season, Juventus have won the league 8 consecutive times, however, this season, two competitors threaten the Juventus dominance.

Juventus top the table with 60 points, with Lazio being in second position with 59 and Inter in third with 54 points, while also having a game in hand. With 13 matchdays remaining and by taking into consideration that Juventus will face both Inter (01/03) and Lazio (26/04) anything is possible.

Inter won the league for the last time in 2009-10 under Jose Mourihno. During that season the ‘Nerazzuri’ won the Champions League and Coppa Italia too, managing a treble for the only time in the history of the club. Lazio have won Seria A twice in their history with the last time being in 1999-2000 under Sven-Goran Eriksson.

The current manager of the club Simeone Inzaghi was a player of that team in addition to other exceptional players such as Alessandro Nesta, Sinisa Mihailovic, Marcelo Salas, Pavel Nedved, Dejan Stankovic, Roberto Mancini, Diego Simeone, Fabrizio Ravanelli and Juan Sebastian Veron.

In regard to the team that leads the Seria A winners list, that would be Juventus with 35. AC Milan and Inter Milan follow with 18 league titles.

Ciro Immobile is running the Seria A top goal scorers list with 27 goals.

German Bundesliga

The German Bundesliga enjoys an exciting season as three teams compete for the title. Bayern Munich are on top of the table with 49 points, RB Leipzig in second place with 48 points and Borussia Dortmund in third with 45.

With 11 games remaining and with Bayern Munich having to face Borussia Dortmund away (04/04), and Leipzig also playing against Dortmund (09/05) no safe predictions can be made.

Bayern Munich have been dominating Bundesliga as they have been winning it consecutively since 2012-13. In total, Bayern Munich won the league 29 times, 20 more than the second club on the list which is FC Nurberg with 9 league titles.

Borussia Dortmund come third on the list with 8 Bundesliga titles. The last time Dortmund were German champions was in 2010-11 and 2011-12 under current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

RB Leipzig are a relatively new club that was formed just 10 years ago in 2009 by the Red Bull company. The best achievements of the club were in 2016-17 after being runners up of Bundesliga and in 2018-19 as runners up in the German cup. On both occasions they lost the title to Bayern Munich.

Robert Lewandowski is running the Bundelsiga’s top goal scorers list with 25 goals.
