All four samples from a man, suspected to have contracted coronavirus, turned out to be negative, the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday.
The man from China was placed in quarantine at the Nicosia General Hospital last Friday after authorities feared he might be infected with the virus causing pneumonia. Samples were sent to Greece to determine whether the man had contracted the virus or not.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, Pasteur Hellenic Institute informed authorities that all four samples from the suspected coronavirus-infected case were negative.
The patient is in excellent clinical condition since Saturday and will be discharged within the day, in line with medical protocols, it was added. The restrictions for his relatives are also lifted, the Ministry said.
The Ministry of Health said that there will be official announcements for any developments in relation to the virus.

During a press conference at the Ministry of Health, about the handling of suspected coronavirus cases, the scientific team assured that a man, held in quarantine at Nicosia General Hospital is in good health and gave no indications of fever on Saturday.
The tests to confirm whether he contracted coronavirus or not were sent abroad and according to the scientific team, final results are expected late on Saturday or on Sunday.
Elisavet Constantinou, the Director of Medical and Public Health Services, told reporters that preparations to deal with cases like this have started a long time ago, by initiating protocols in line with World Health Organisation and European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control guidelines.
