The Cyprus MFA, through its official account on Twitter, wrote on Monday: “We continue to monitor with great concern & deep #sorrow the devastation caused by #AustralianFires, especially saddened by the loss of life caused. Thoughts and prayers with all affected. Sincere condolences to families of victims and courage to fire-fighting crews”.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Cyprus retweeted this message with the comment: “Thank you Cyprus MFA for your warm message and affirmation of the close friendship between Cyprus and Australia. We will draw strength from your messages of support and solidarity as our communities to fight these fires and begin to rebuild”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued guidance for Cypriot citizens in Australia, due to the raging bushfires, with the situation expected to worsen, as high temperatures and gale winds are forecast.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that some areas are in a state of emergency and evacuations continue.
Anyone living there or intending to travel to the affected areas must take precautions for their personal health and safety, follow the news, and observe local instructions.
