The Cypriot First Division has reached its half-way point. Omonoia Nicosia are currently at the top, followed by Anorthosis Famagusta, Apollon Limassol, AEL, APOEL Nicosia, AEK Larnaca, and Nea Salamina.
We went through the data to figure out who is the most effective forward. To do that, we looked at most goals, goals per minute, and expected goals.
Expected goals (xG) is a metric that shows the probability of each shot becoming a goal.
For the sake of contextual accuracy, we considered players that had a minimum of 8 appearances this season.
It has to be noted that the data used does not exclude penalties.
With the above points in mind, there is one clear answer as to who has been the most efficient forward this season so far: AEK Larnaca’s Ivan Trickovski.
