The Cyprus Comic Con, an increasingly popular and beloved event, will unfortunately not take place in 2020.

Event organizers stated that the event has encountered insurmountable obstacles in finding a viable venue for what would have been next year’s event.

“There is simply no other venue big enough at the moment on our little island.”

More specifically, the organizers said: “We have also investigated alternative venues and dates – including purchasing or renting 6000 square metres worth of air conditioning coverage to return to our original summer dates. There is simply no other venue big enough at the moment on our little island – and the costs of running the event comfortably in the summer are simply insurmountable.”

On a more positive note, it has been confirmed that there will be an event in 2021.

“What we do have, however, is a solid confirmation from the venue that our right to book secure annual dates will be honoured without question moving forward.”

We hope that the issue of venues and usable spaces for a progressively more diverse array of events on the island is addressed sooner rather than later.
